  • Recruit and train up to 40 CHWs and Mommy Coaches

Support Solano Coalition for Better Health’s Million Pound Challenge

  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Million Pound Challenge
  • Partner with faith-based agencies and other stakeholders to develop participation incentives
  • Help host health seminars and citywide workouts; include health screening, nutrition information and healthy cooking

Develop Partnerships to Fund School Fitness and Wellness Activities

  • Explore ways to support and replicate Vacaville High School fitness center model with goal of reducing students’ body mass index
  • Partner with school district’s Wellness Coordinators on ways to help increase physical activity; explore funding opportunities
  • Review current standards, laws, and new funding for increasing Physical Education in schools
  • Work with existing youth advisory councils to provide input on nutrition and physical activity social marketing campaign

Encourage Safe Routes to School (SR2S)

  • Continue assisting on SR2S countywide steering committee

Partner with Solano Transportation Authority (STA)

  • With STA, seek grants to provide SR2S activities such as events, social marketing campaigns and educational programs on road safety and traffic rules;link with Public Health’s bicycle helmet safety program

Conduct Presentations on Obesity Rates; Chronic Disease; the Importance of Increasing Physical Activity for Children and Families; Increase Walk to School Days
