Implement “First Felony” Pilot Program

Conduct comprehensive risk/needs assessment

Provide substance abuse and mental health programs, parenting skills, vocational, educational and job placement services

Have Public Defender Social Worker track participants’ progress and ability to follow directives of services offered

Partner with churches and community resource services to provide services, including coaching, housing, health needs, outreach services, and connection to other services

Identify and fill service gaps for this population

Improve information sharing and coordination

Follow up on programs begun while in custody that have not been completed upon release

Track the success of the program through scientifically accepted method of performance measurement following participants and control group

Re-establish Adult “Drug Court” While Continuing Both Juvenile Drug Court & Family Drug Court (handbook, press release)

Treatment and continuous testing, coordinated with services, including Court appearances every two weeks, intensive outpatient treatment, and residential treatment as deemed appropriate to address participants’ needs
